We use the personal information you share with us to improve our products and services, as well as your experience. Detailed instructions for unsubscribing from marketing messages are provided below. Please read the section entitled “Your Rights Regarding Your Personal Information” below for more details.

1) INFORMATION COLLECTED

“Personal Information” means information that relates to you and identifies you, either alone or in combination with other information. Nautisme Québec will collect various types of personal information and special categories of personal information (including health data and other confidential data as explained below). We will ask for your consent if we wish to use your personal information for purposes other than those described in this Privacy Statement, or if required to do so by applicable law.

i. Information collected when creating an account

If you create a Nautisme Québec account — for example, by logging in with a unique global identifier that allows you to use the same identifier worldwide — we will ask you for the following personal information:

Your name.

Your email address.

Your password.

ii. Information automatically collected on our websites and from our mobile applications.

When you interact with our brands, our website and our applications, we automatically collect information in the following ways:

Your IP address; the time, date, and duration of your visit; the referring URL (i.e., the website that led you to our website); the pages you visited on our website; and information about the device and browser you used during your visit (including browser type and version, operating system, etc.). Cookies and similar information: We and our partners use various technologies to collect and store information when you visit our websites or use our applications; these technologies include downloading one or more cookies or other similar information onto your device.

iii. Information collected when you use our products or services

When you (i) use our products and services, or (ii) use our applications, we will ask you for certain personal information. This information may include:

Use of our products and services

Your postal address and payment details when ordering from our online store. Your email address so that we can send you a receipt and promotional offers to the extent permitted by applicable law; or when you register for one of our competitions, prize draws, or newsletters. A record of our correspondence (including your comments on products or services) if you have contacted customer service.

2) USE OF YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION

The personal information we collect when you create an account will be used for identification and authentication purposes when using the Services, so you can use the same data to log in from any location and device. Global single sign-on will allow our system to identify you wherever you are, meaning you won’t need to register again if you log in from another country. In addition, we will create a profile (using the necessary information) to provide you with our products or services. The personal information we collect (described above) will be used in its individual form, or (where applicable) combined with other personal information we obtain from other internal or external sources.

We use and analyze this personal information for the following purposes:

i. Improving our products and services:

We will use your personal information to create a profile that will help us understand how you use our products and services, develop more interesting and relevant products and services, personalize the products and services offered on our websites and applications, and create advertisements that you may see on third-party sites. For more information on how to opt out of this personalization, please see the section “Your rights regarding your personal information” below.

ii. Processing your order:

We use the personal information described above (including your name, address, email address, and payment details) to process and deliver your order, and to inform you of its status. We may also use your age, year of birth, or confirmation that you have reached a certain age to determine if you are of legal age in your country to make online purchases and whether you are considered a minor for data protection and marketing rights purposes.

iii. Conducting checks:

We will also use your personal information for fraud prevention purposes and, with your consent, to assess your creditworthiness. For this purpose, we may need to share your personal information with our credit assessment providers (see “Sharing your personal information” below), with your consent, as required by applicable law.

iv. Customer Service:

If you contact our customer service (or vice versa), we will use personal information (such as your order details and your communication history with our customer service) to process your request and provide you with the best possible service.

v. Products and services (commitments and offers):

We will use your personal information to provide you with the products and services you request (such as promotions, loyalty programs, events, and our applications). This will include, where applicable, using your personal information for contest submissions; offering gifts; participating in promotions; using your contact information when you register for events; and using information such as your location for our mobile applications, with your consent, and as explained in more detail within our applications (for example, running applications that use your location to help you plan your route when you are registered for an event).

vi. Marketing and Profiling:

When you subscribe to newsletters published by Nautisme Québec, create a unique identifier, order products, post comments on a product or service online or in-store, or use our website, we will use your personal information to create a profile based on the data we hold about you. We will create your profile according to your preferences to provide you with a better, more personalized experience and to send you personalized marketing messages, both on our website and on supplier websites; and to send you promotions, newsletters, and messages to obtain your opinions and for research purposes (subject to your consent) and in accordance with applicable anti-spam laws. A more detailed description of how we will use your personal information is provided below.

What types of information do we use? Your interactions with us and our brands across the various channels described above (e.g., stores, website, apps, social media, and marketing messages) provide us with valuable information about your interests and preferences. This helps us deliver the best possible experience for you. To learn more about you (your interests and preferences), we analyze these different types of information, as described above. In particular, we may combine the information we collect with data collected by third parties. If we have obtained your consent (as required by law) to send you marketing messages, we will use the information we have to send you personalized marketing messages about the products, services, events, gifts, and promotions we offer; we will also send you news and other information about us that we think you will find interesting. In some cases, we will also combine your personal information with that of other people to create comprehensive reports on how consumers use our products and services and their experiences with our brand.

What marketing channels do we use? We may send you marketing messages through the channel of your choice or based on the information you provide to us (for example, email, phone number, social media). We will ask for your consent where required by applicable law before using the contact details you have provided to send you our personalized marketing messages.

Message Personalization: The messages we send you may be personalized based on your preferences and interests. We develop these personalized messages using data analysis. These marketing messages may contain information about our products and services, events, gifts, promotions, news, and other information about Nautisme Québec that may be of interest to you. In certain circumstances, we will also use these channels to obtain your opinion (for example, by asking you to participate in a survey), learn more about your experience, and improve it.

Retargeting: Our websites and apps use retargeting technologies. These technologies allow us to show ads on third-party websites to visitors who have previously visited or used our website or app. We believe that personalized, interest-based advertising is more engaging and relevant to our customers than advertising that is not personally linked. Retargeting technologies analyze information we collect from your interactions with our platforms as described above (including cookies) and display ads based on your web browsing history. Please note that our sites are generally not configured to respond to web browsers’ no-profile signals.

Third-party ad servers: We work with other companies that use tracking technologies to serve ads on our behalf across the web. These companies may collect personal information about your visits to our websites, your use of our apps, and your interactions with our messages, including ads.

Device and Context Linking: We may link or combine the information we collect about you from various sources to ensure a consistent user experience, regardless of how you interact with us (online, in-store, through a mobile app, or on social media). We may link or combine your activities and information collected about you on our websites and mobile apps and during your in-store purchases, as well as information we receive from third parties (with your consent or as permitted by applicable law) and information we collect automatically through targeting technologies. This allows us to provide you with a personalized experience, regardless of how you interact with us (online, through a mobile app, or on social media). We and our partners may link your different devices so that content you see on one device can lead to relevant ads being displayed on another device. To do this, we collect information about each device you use while logged into our services. We may also work with third parties who use targeting technologies or statistical modeling tools to determine if two or more devices are linked to a single user or household. We may share a common account identifier (such as an email address or login ID) with advertising partners to help recognize you across all devices. We and our partners may use this link to that device to provide you with interest-based ads and other personalized content on your devices, and to perform analytics and measure the performance of our advertising campaigns.

vii. Improving our products and services:

We will use the personal information we hold about you (as well as pseudonymized or anonymized information generated from your personal information) to perform analytics

and research, including:

– Data science and analytics – we combine information (such as personal and/or confidential information we have obtained from your use of an application or your browsing history) that we hold at scale in order to:

– To learn more about our customers and their preferences. – To identify trends and create patterns of customer behavior. – To improve the user experience on our websites. – To provide information, content, and offers tailored to our customers’ needs. – To conduct general research and statistical analysis. – To design new products and services. – To monitor the performance of our products and services and/or improve our technology.

viii. Website Improvement:

Personal information collected from our websites (e.g., cookies and other tracking technologies) will be used to evaluate browsing behavior on our websites, highlight areas where improvements can be made, optimize our products and services, and personalize and enhance your experience on our websites and applications.

ix. Performance Analysis:

We will use your personal information (anonymized and aggregated with the personal information of other customers) for sales, supply chain and financial analysis purposes, to determine our performance and make improvements where appropriate, and, where appropriate, to prepare reports.

3) SHARING YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION

We treat your personal information with care and confidentiality; we do not share it with third parties, except in the situations described below:

i. Other entities besides Nautisme Québec:

We may share your member profile information with other service providers if both entities are responsible for your personal information, or if the other entities act as service providers and manage your information in accordance with our instructions or on our behalf.

ii. Social Networks:

In some cases, our website and applications will offer plugins for various social networks. If you choose to interact with a social network such as Meta or X (for example, by creating an account), your activity on our website or applications will also be visible on that social network. If you are logged into one of these social networks when you visit one of our websites or use our applications or interact with one of the plugins, the social network may add this information to your profile on that network, in accordance with your privacy settings. If you wish to prevent this type of data transfer, please log out of your social network before accessing one of our websites or using one of our applications; or change the application’s privacy settings, if possible. Please read the privacy policies of these social networks for detailed information on the collection and transfer of personal information, your rights, and how you can use customized privacy settings.

iii. Law enforcement and regulatory bodies:

Nautisme Québec will disclose personal information when required by law or legal process, for the administration of justice, for the protection of your vital interests, for the purposes of investigations conducted by law enforcement or regulatory bodies, for the protection and defense of the property and legal rights of Nautisme Québec, for the personal safety of users of the Nautisme Québec website or (mobile) applications, or upon a valid court or law enforcement order.

iv. Business Transactions:

We reserve the right to transfer any personal information in our possession in the event of a merger or acquisition (in whole or in part) of our company by a third party, or if such a business transaction is proposed.

v. With your consent:

We will share your personal information with other third parties, or when you connect your devices to third-party devices, in other situations. In these cases, we will obtain your prior consent to share your personal information, where required by applicable law.

vi. Service Providers:

We share personal information with our cloud service providers for identification and authentication purposes, so that you can log in to your account quickly and easily as you wish, no matter where you are in the world.

We will also share your personal information, if necessary and only for the purposes described in this statement, with third parties who will use your personal information on our behalf. We require these service providers and third parties to follow strict rules when processing your personal information, including the guidelines of Nautisme Québec and applicable laws.

4) PROTECTION OF YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION

We are committed to protecting the personal information under our control and will implement technical and organizational security measures to help protect it against unauthorized or unlawful use, and against accidental loss, destruction, or damage. Personal information may be accessed by individuals within the Nautisme Québec team, or by our service providers, who need to access this information for the purposes described herein, or for other purposes that may be permitted or required by applicable law.

i. Retention Period

We may retain your personal information for a minimum period of two years from your last interaction with us, unless a longer or shorter retention period is required by law or if a legal process or any other purpose under applicable law requires it.

Here are some examples to illustrate how we retain your personal information for as long as necessary for a particular purpose:

We may retain your personal information collected during a purchase for as long as required by tax laws (more than two years in some countries). We may retain your personal information for a shorter period if you ask us to delete it. In this case, we will ensure that your personal information is deleted within a maximum of one month from the date of the request (subject to any legal restrictions).

ii. Data Storage

We may store and process your personal information in Canada, the United States, the European Union, and other foreign countries that provide us with hosting or other services. (For example, the personal information you provide when you create an account) will be stored in Canada, the United States, and the European Union; it will also be backed up by our cloud service providers located outside of Canada for the purpose of authenticating and signing your account. In these cases, we will take appropriate steps to ensure the protection of your personal information. Typically, these steps include data security reviews of all recipients and the implementation of contracts with those recipients to ensure they use the same or similar appropriate technical and organizational measures as we do to protect your data. However, when personal information is stored or processed outside of Canada (whether by us or a supplier), it is subject to the laws of that foreign jurisdiction and may be accessible to the governments, courts, law enforcement agencies or regulatory bodies of that jurisdiction.

As a general rule, we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 13. If we learn that we have inadvertently collected personal information from children under the age of 13, we will take steps to delete that information as quickly as possible, unless applicable law requires us to retain it.

If a child under 13 attempts to create an account, they must first provide the information described above. In addition, information submitted by the child and collected during their visit (for example, through cookies) may be used as described in this privacy statement. However, if a child under 13 attempts to complete their registration, the registration will be rejected, and the child will receive a message stating that an account cannot be created for children under 13. For this reason, we ask parents and guardians to review and monitor their children’s internet use to protect them.

iii. Third-Party Websites

Our websites may contain links to third-party websites and some of our services give you access to services offered by third parties (e.g., social networks).

We do not control the processes by which third-party websites and services handle your personal information. We do not review third-party websites and services, and we are not responsible for these websites and services or their privacy practices. Please read the privacy statements of any third-party websites or services you visit or use from our websites or services.

6. COOKIE STATEMENT

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT COOKIES

FIRSTLY, WHAT IS A "WITNESS"?

Cookies are small text files stored on your computer or mobile device when you visit a website. For the purposes of this section, we use the word “cookie” as a generic term for technologies such as cookies, Flash cookies, and web beacons. They require little disk space and are automatically deleted when they expire. Some cookies expire at the end of your internet session, while others are stored for a limited period.

SECONDLY, WHAT ARE THE DIFFERENT TYPES OF COOKIES WE USE?

There are different types of cookies, and each cookie is used for a specific purpose. Some cookies simply allow you to navigate the website and use certain features. Other cookies are used to analyze your browsing experience (i.e., to see if you have trouble finding what you’re looking for) so we can improve our website’s functionality and make your future visits as enjoyable as possible.

The cookies we set are called “first-party cookies.” Cookies set by parties other than us are called “third-party cookies.” These cookies allow us to provide features offered by third parties directly from (or through) the website (for example, advertising, interactive content, and analytics). The parties that place these third-party cookies can recognize your computer or mobile device (i) when you visit the website in question and (ii) when you visit certain other websites.

Another important distinction is between “required cookies,” “functional cookies,” and “advertising and social media cookies.” Required cookies are essential for a website to function; they help you navigate the website and use basic features, including media plugins. There are also functional cookies that allow you to save the contents of your shopping cart, create a wish list, and save your shipping information for faster checkout. These functional and analytical cookies collect information about how visitors use our website and are used to improve it. We also like to present you with relevant offers. To manage these offers, we collect browsing data that may be linked to a unique identifier to help us understand how you interact with us across platforms. Advertising and social media cookies record your preferences to suggest relevant advertisements to you outside of our sites. These cookies are used to allow you to interact with social networks or submit reviews; they may also be used to track your activity on social media platforms.

FINALLY, WHY DO WE USE COOKIES?

Primarily, Nautisme Québec uses cookies to make your visit to our website as pleasant as possible; we also use them for advertising purposes during your future visits to other websites. Below you will find a more detailed overview of the types of cookies we use and the reasons why we use them:

Required cookies: These are essential as they help you navigate the site and take advantage of certain features (for example, these cookies ensure that the contents of your shopping cart are saved at all stages of your checkout process). These cookies are necessary to enable basic website functionality. These cookies are stored for the duration of your browsing session. Functional and analytical cookies: These allow us to provide you with a hassle-free shopping experience (i.e., they help you save the contents of your shopping cart, provide reminders about your cart, and allow you to create a wish list). These cookies allow us to analyze site usage and improve its performance. These cookies may be set by us or by a third party on our behalf (see opt-out options below) and are stored for the duration of your browsing session. Advertising and social media cookies: A variety of cookies are used for advertising and social media, including: Targeting cookies: These remember your favorite products and shopping preferences or facilitate marketing efforts. These cookies allow us to share information (for example, about things you like) with our service providers and third-party websites to show you ads that are more relevant to your preferences. Performance cookies: These help us understand visitor shopping behavior. They allow us to continually improve our website to make your shopping experience easier and more enjoyable. They also allow us to improve the marketing messages we send to our customers. Interaction cookies: These allow you to express your opinion. They allow you to like or recommend us on social media. They also allow you to connect with our customer service agents. You can also offer advice to other (potential) customers by providing a rating or review of our products.

Our website and mobile applications use retargeting technologies that allow us to present advertisements from third-party websites to visitors who are already interested in our store and products.

We also work with other companies that use tracking technologies to serve ads on our behalf across the internet. These companies may collect data about your visits to our websites, your use of our mobile apps, and your interactions with us through our communications (including ads). Information on how to opt out of tracking technologies is provided below.

WHAT HAPPENS IF I DON'T LIKE THE USE OF COOKIES?

You can change your browser settings to delete or prevent certain cookies from being stored on your computer or mobile device without your explicit consent. Your browser’s help section should provide information on how to manage your cookie settings. Find out how this works for your browser here:

Please review this Cookie Statement regularly to stay informed of any updates to our use of cookies and related technologies.

The date that appears at the top of this statement indicates the date of its last update.
